Local Information:

Saturday appointments can be made and you will be given priority should there be a queue. It is always worth giving us a call if you intend to turn up on a Saturday, as we are only human and can occasionally fall ill or go on holiday.

We offer a super hygienic service in the relaxed non-intimidating environment of our modern jewellery shop. We also design and make a wide range of body jewellery using gold, white gold and platinum.

Most of the products displayed in our on-line shop can be used for your initial piercing, as they are 14-carat or 18-carat nickel free yellow or white gold. Alternatively a wide range of plain polished or coloured titanium can be used.

We are qualified professionals offering a service with full knowledge of the essential requirements for prevention of cross contamination. No expense is spared or corners cut when ensuring all jewellery, instruments, surfaces and disposable items are prepared and sterilised for this minor surgical procedure. Therefore forgive us if we may appear to be a little more expensive than others. Sometimes you may have to pay a little bit extra for a whole lot more. Especially within this, as yet unregulated industry.

Many of our customers travel long distances to be assured of our expert procedures. We continue to impress all types of people including an increasing number with specialist medical and surgical knowledge, and qualification.

The Real studio is of course local health authority approved and to be quite frank we like to blow our own trumpets that it is the cleanest, nicest piercing studio we have ever been in.

Age Restrictions

Ears with the Studex 75 system using only solid gold or titanium

Lobe piercing: With the Studex 75 system using only solid gold or titanium - 4 years plus - Under 16 years must have a parent or guardian with them.

Top of Ear: 13 years plus - Under 16 years must have a parent or guardian with them.

Navel Piercing: 13 years plus - Under 16 years must have a parent or guardian with them.

Facial, Nipple and other ear piercing - 16 years and over only (Identification may be required)

Oral piercing of any type: 16/17 with parent or 18 years or over (Identification may be required)

All our implantation piercing is done with jewellery which complies with the EU Nickel directive 2001. This law enforces the ban of 316 grade steels for primary piercings.

The Navel Pierce

RING or CURVED BAR ?????

The navel can be pierced safely with a Titanium or 14-ct / 18-ct gold ball closure ring or banana bar. 9-ct or plated gold cannot be used safely for this procedure.

Please note that the initial choice of jewellery i.e. ring or banana bar will depend upon your anatomy and the shape of the navel itself.

An initial piercing with a ring can for some people be a deeper pierce, making the wearing of a banana bar difficult or not appropriate at a later date. If you intend wearing a banana bar at any stage during the life of you piercing, an appropriate initial piercing is essential.

Many long established studios are still, repeatedly making the mistake of using a deep-set ring pierce for initial piercing, even when the customer has made them aware of the intention of wearing a banana bar at a later stage.

For many people an initial piercing with a banana bar may be much more appropriate, helping to maintain a straight pierce during the healing process.
