GOLD
- THE SAFEST INVESTMENT
Here
is certain proof that investing in gold is a winning investment.
Graph
1: Shows the rise in the price of gold during the last
month of approx 18%. In fact over the last year the price
has gone up by approx 29% and in the last 3 years the
price has gone up by approx 50%
At
the moment it seems every time another bank crashes the
price seems to rise even more rapidly
Graph
2: Shows a 3 month graph of shares dropping rapidly.

Platinum
The
most elite of all precious metals
The
perfect metal for piercings.
Platinum
does not oxidise, tarnish or discolour it is very hard
and durable. It is extremely resistant to wear and is
not affected by body fluids. Platinum is inert and does
not produce any allergic reactions. It is naturally white
and does not blacken in piercings. Even chlorine, perfumes
and acids will not effect it.
Because
of its bright white shine and strength, Platinum is ideal
for setting diamonds. It adds to the whiteness of the
stone and making them secure.
This
hypoallergenic, rare precious metal is ideal for piercings
and body jewellery.
Above
all it is beautiful……
BMG
recommends: If you can afford it you can’t beat
it.

Plated
Gold
Generally speaking, plated gold products should not be
worn in any piercing. The gold can deteriorate and peel
off exposing the raw material underneath. The product
can disperse harmful metallic irons and sometimes, adhesive
films directly into the blood stream.
BMG recommends: Avoid
completely
Index
Silver
of any description
Pure silver contains harmful alloys and can cause contamination
very quickly due to the fact it is extremely corrosive.
Silver is also the most heat conductive metal and exposure
to extreme heat i.e. the sun or sun-beds can also cause
problems.
BMG recommends: Avoid
completely and stay away from silver ended products where
the silver is touching the piercing itself. Possibly the
worst metal to use (in a pure form) for body jewellery.
Index
9ct
Yellow Gold
This is only 37.5% gold and 62.5% impure alloy. Low gold
alloys corrode significantly and release metallic ions
directly into the blood stream, contaminating the wearer.
Dental gold is regulated by ISO 1562, stipulating specific
alloying elements. 9-ct gold does not meet this standard
and is not considered suitable for implantation. Recent
dental research is pointing to low grade gold being responsible
for the development of a permanent gold allergy.
BMG recommends: Not
quite as bad as Silver but avoid completely, maintaining
your general health and the health of your piercing.

14ct
Yellow Gold
This
is 58.5% pure gold and 41.5% alloy. 14ct is considered
and proven pure to maintain a healthy piercing especially
when (as with BMG products) no nickel is used in the alloys
added. BMG 14-ct gold is produced with the hardening properties
required to maintain the thread of a banana bar or barbell.
Body Matters Gold favours this for its purity and hardwearing
abilities.
BMG recommends: A
great choice providing the Gold is mixed nickel free.
We use a special formula making the gold hard, smooth,
durable and pierce friendly.

18ct
Yellow Gold
This
is 75% pure gold and 25% alloy. 18ct is proven pure when
produced nickel free. Being softer than 14ct gold it is
not appropriate when threaded ends are used. Over a period
of time the thread may deteriorate making the securing
balls work loose.
BMG recommends: A
great choice for non- threaded jewellery such as nose
studs, providing the Gold is mixed nickel free. We are
now producing all of our new stock of yellow gold nose
studs with 18ct, as they require no thread.

White Gold
White gold is in fact gold with white metal added, metals
such as silver and nickel are predominantly used for the
whitening of the yellow gold. Most white gold, which is
sold in shops around the world today, is rhodium plated,
this does not mean that it is not real white gold.
White gold, which is required for implantation use, should
be made with no nickel and no plating. Nickel can cause
skin disorders and problems with our immune system whereas
plating tends to peel off, this in turn can become a serious
problem in a contact blood spore situation.
BMG white gold is mixed using pure gold and a white metal
called palladium. Palladium has similar properties to
platinum and is considered its sister metal, in recent
months the price of palladium has risen ten fold, this
is due to the increased demand from industry which now
uses palladium for high specification electronic construction.
Hence palladium is now just a little bit cheaper than
platinum but far more expensive than pure gold. This is
why BMG white gold is more expensive than our yellow gold.
Having spent 3 years researching and testing to find the
perfect white gold mix we now keep the exact formula a
closely guarded secret. As from 1st April 2002
we have introduced our new white gold formula. We can
tell you that it is a mix of approx 60% pure gold with
a large amount of palladium and a small amount of copper
to give it some durability. So in fact this makes it a
beautiful shiny white alternative to pure platinum. The
mix of 60% gold is in fact 16K gold, being as this is
not a recognised carat for gold it is all marked as 14K.
18K white gold is fine but because less white metal can
be added to the mix it becomes slightly yellow in appearance
when not plated and too soft for the long term retention
of the tapped ball and thread. Please remember that 18K
white gold made this way would actually be cheaper to
mix than the 14K we use due to the lesser amount of the
more expensive palladium required for implantation use.
BMG recommends: Be
very wary of people offering white gold without knowledge
of its make up – ONLY accept a mix of pure gold and palladium
without any other alloys i.e. nickel present.

If choosing to buy elsewhere – read the above notes and
follow these simple guidelines.
If you are buying yellow gold – For a threaded or tension
clamped product choose 14ct nickel free. For a non-threaded
or non-tension clamped product such as a nose stud choose
18ct nickel free. For white gold choose 14ct (58.5 % pure
gold and 41.5% palladium)
Please note that the above is general advice only. If
you are aware that you have an intolerance to any metals
such as nickel, gold, silver, palladium or copper please
